Of course, the wish to specialize in literature didn’t come out of the blue. And when I started applying for master programs last spring, I felt the urge to study literature. So, I topped my Star Trek novels with a bit of Shakespeare, Woolf and Capote – and yes, some Bushnell and Weisberger, too. But Kirsten Beyer and her book(s) relumed something in me they set off something that had been hidden in the depths of my subconsciousness for far too long: my passion for reading. School and later college and work had me so busy – there’s was barely time left to keep up with my subscription of Time Magazine. Truth is, I hadn’t only abandoned Star Trek lit but reading in general. Considering that I hadn’t touched any Star Trek literature in years, that’s quite impressing. I didn’t stop with “Full Circle”, “Unworthy” or “Children of the Storm” (which I all enjoyed immensely) but once at it, I read roughly 30 Star Trek novels in less than a year.
